Print Description

Morant’s Curve sits at the western end of the Bow Valley Parkway near Lake Louise. Named for CPR photographer Nicolas Morant, it has long drawn those hoping to capture a train winding through the landscape.

Arriving on one of the coldest days, even the camera struggled with the cold. The trees along the tracks have grown much taller over time, and this angle is no longer the same. It has taken years to catch the train moving in the right direction. With no public schedule, it becomes a waiting game, sometimes rewarded with the sound of a train, and sometimes with nothing but quiet tracks.
